Nordic Walking Workshops 2010

Come and learn Nordic Walking in a special, fun half-day workshop!

Thinking about learning to do Nordic Walking? Want to come with a group of friends to learn in a fun-filled workshop? Want to learn at half the normal price? Just £3 will get you started on the road to fitness.

Come to one of the special workshops that we are holding in 2010. These are taking place as follows:-

Sunday 18th April at Pooley Country Park
Sunday 6th June at Kingsbury Water Park

Workshop Timetable

9.30 to 10.00 - Assemble and complete health screening paperwork, and collect your poles.

10.00 - 10.15 - A brief talk about Nordic Walking, its origins, what the different levels of Nordic Walking are, and what the health benefits are.

10.15-11.15 - A series of walking exercises to teach you how to safely handle the poles, and how to use them to achieve the health level of Nordic Walking. An introduction to uphill and downhill technique. A demonstration of the fitness and sport levels of Nordic Walking.

11.15-11.30 - A coffee break (not included in the price)

11.30 - 1.00 - a walk around the Park that will help you to cement your basic technique. Chat, have fun, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and get fit at the same time.

1.00 - Lunch (not included in the price).

What do you need to bring?

Bring yourself! Wear comfortable walking shoes or boots that you don't mind getting muddy. Shoes are preferred to boots, but if you have comfortable boots that you prefer to wear for walking, then wear those. Wear layers - base layer, mid layer, jacket or outer layer. Be prepared for rain - we won't cancel just because it is raining! Bring money for the car park, and for a coffee and lunch if you wish to stay.

Please don't bring a dog - there are ways of nordic walking with a dog, but it is important you learn basic technique first. The workshop will not be suitable for children.

What do you need to do to book?

Please phone or email for details and to book your place. I will need to know your height so I can bring the correct size poles. Places are limited to 10 per workshop, so please book early to avoid disappointment!

What if I can't make one of these workshops?

Don't worry! You can always learn at one of my regular walks for £6. See the schedule on the left for further information. I can also do one-to-one sessions for £12.

Please note there is an additional £1.50 charge for car parking at Pooley and £3.00 parking at Kingsbury Water Park.

All routes used in my classes have been risk-assessed, and the risk assessments are available for you to read (pdf)
