I can offer a full Personal Training service, including an initial consultation, health and fitness assessment, full nutritional and dietary advice to assist with weight loss or sports performance, and one-to-one, one-to-two or small group training sessions. I specialise in providing personal and one-to-one tuition to people with a history of health problems, or those with low levels of confidence.

Do any of these phrases apply to you?

  • You'd like to get fit but don't seem to have the time
  • You really don't like the idea of going to the gym
  • You think you're a bit too old to start getting fit
  • You feel tired all the time and never have the energy to take any exercise
  • You're embarrassed because you feel overweight and out of shape
  • You find exercise dull or boring
  • You think you can't do exercise because you weren't good at sport at school
  • You have been told by your doctor to take some exercise but you don't know where to start
  • You have been told by your doctor to lose weight but don't know where to start
  • You want to try and eat a healthy diet but you get confused by all the different diets around and don't really know what is healthy and what isn't
  • You've tried lots of diets but always put weight back on again afterwards
  • On several occasions you've started to exercise but always given up after a short period of time
  • You are a member of a gym but haven't been there for ages
  • You would like to take exercise but don't want to have to buy a lot of equipment
  • You run around looking after everybody else, but don't have time to look after yourself.
  • You never seem to achieve what you want when you do start to exercise - it is always a disappointment.
  • You think personal trainers are for fit people, sportsmen and women, bodybuilders or celebrities
  • You have a secret wish to complete an exercise-related challenge, but think everybody will laugh at you because you are unfit

Fitness and health can be for everyone, regardless of your age, your shape, your size, the amount of time you have, or whether you like going to the gym. If you recognise yourself in any of these statements, then maybe I can help you.

I believe passionately that keeping fit is the best way for you to take control of your health and your life. If you don't use it, you lose it. I would like to help everybody learn how to keep themselves healthy and fit, and to get the most out of their life, no matter what level of health, fitness or ability they start from.

I can offer a full Personal Training service including

  • An initial consultation including a health screening questionnaire
  • A full fitness assessment giving a baseline against which you can measure progress
  • A full and honest appraisal of your goals
  • A fitness program tailored just for you, to help you achieve your goals. This program can include
    • Exercise sessions with your trainer at home including exercise to music, boxing exercises and drills, walking, nordic walking, circuit training and body toning and conditioning
    • Exercise sessions with your trainer outdoors including walking, cycling and Nordic Walking
    • Exercise you can do yourself in between training sessions including walking, swimming, exercise classes, cycling, and even attending a gym if you want to!
    • Advice on how to fit activity into your daily lifestyle
    • Full instruction on technique and how to monitor your exercise intensity and progress
    • Advice and assistance in buying equipment if this is what you want to do, and is appropriate for you
    • Education - helping you understand what you are doing, and why, so that in time you can manage your own exercise and weight management program, changing your own activities and diet to suit your goals.
  • A full dietary assessment including a questionnaire and food diary analysis, and advice on healthy eating that doesn't mean dieting, but will set you on the way to a sustainable healthy diet
  • Repeat assessments of your exercise program, re-evaluation of goals, and repeat fitness assessment

I have a huge amount of experience of training myself, despite having a very serious illness since childhood. I have trained for and completed 100km bicycle rides and a half-marathon, but have also experienced spells of illness leaving me to build my fitness up again from scratch. I know that I can help you get fit, take control of your health and fitness and achieve your ambitions and goals.

If you are interested in this, and would like to know more, please contact me.

  • I will not judge you
  • I will not tell you off
  • I will not make you do exercises you don't like
  • I will not make you go to the gym if you don't want to
  • You don't need to worry what you look like, or what I'll think of you.
  • You don't need to worry what to wear.
  • I will listen to you, and help you to change the way you live for the better.
  • I don't want to tie you in to having personal training sessions for ever - I want to teach you how to look after yourself and your own fitness and health. If I can set you on that road, then I will be happy, and I hope you will be too.

Will it cost a lot? I charge £25 for a one-hour session, which can be an initial consultation and program, a fitness testing session, a training session, or a dietary assessment. You can purchase 6 sessions for the price of 5 - a session could be your initial consultation and program, nutritional advice and food diary analysis, a training session at home or outdoors, a review of your exercise progress, nutritional progress and repeat fitness testing. So you can get a lot for a relatively small amount of money. You can also save money by training with a partner or friend (£40 for training two people at once), although initial consultations and dietary advice are always given one-to-one.

Please think about it and contact me if you'd like to know more.
